1. Scope and contact
This policy describes Juby, operated by XG. Contact [email protected] for privacy questions or requests concerning your data. The App requires no user account and offers optional iCloud notebook sync.
2. Data on your device
Handwriting, notebook pages, AI results and imported material are stored in the local notebook database and asset directory. Tool and language preferences, a cloud confirmation flag and a randomly generated installation identifier are stored locally. Some database migrations retain an internal backup. Local Vision handwriting recognition does not itself send content to an online recognition service. Device or operating-system backups may also include App data, depending on your system settings.
3. Optional cloud AI
Ordinary pen writing stays local. After cloud confirmation, Magic Pen sends an image of the current authorized handwriting segment or exact native text, necessary related replies from the same page, and request settings through XG’s server to OpenAI to recognize the request and generate an answer. A circled or arrow-referenced request uses its authorized local source. Ordinary notes may also be uploaded so the same request can decide to stay silent. The App does not upload your notebook title, whole other-page images or the whole notebook through this workflow. With notebook-memory permission, relevant summaries or answer excerpts from completed dialogue in this same notebook may also be sent across pages.
4. Identifiers and service records
Requests carry the installation identifier and a request identifier for service operation, request coordination and troubleshooting. Online services also receive connection information such as your IP address. Service records can include the model, request status, failure reason and usage when available. Enabled diagnostic logging can include AI reply content. These records are distinct from the local notebook database; a missing usage count does not mean no processing occurred.
5. Recipients and retention
XG’s server processes and forwards the submitted content to OpenAI. Providers and network infrastructure may process data outside your country or region. Provider retention and use depend on the applicable service policy and configuration. This policy does not promise zero retention, no model training under every configuration, or a fixed deletion deadline. OpenAI’s API data controls are described at https://developers.openai.com/api/docs/guides/your-data . Contact XG to ask about service records and available deletion options; this App has no remote-history deletion control.
6. Local deletion, backups and sharing
Trash keeps the notebook until restored or permanently deleted. Permanent deletion removes its notebook and page records; unreferenced imported assets and internal migration backups may remain. Deleting local records does not erase system backups, exported copies, files shared to another app, service logs or provider-held content. Storage Space includes existing database files, assets and migration backups. PDF/PNG export is local; using the system share sheet sends the selected export to a destination you choose, subject to that destination’s handling.
7. Your choices
You can cancel the first cloud prompt and continue using ordinary pen writing. You can withdraw permission at Settings → About → Privacy Policy → Turn off cloud AI. Your notes and subscription remain unchanged. Using cloud AI again requires your permission. Cancelling an already sent request cannot recall data already received by a server. Manage system backups and shared files with the relevant system or service. Contact XG about access, correction, deletion or other privacy requests; specify what data or request is involved without emailing unnecessary sensitive notebook content.
8. Updates
This policy’s version and update date appear above. An update does not itself grant access to additional notebook pages or remove the App’s cloud confirmation requirement.
Optional iCloud sync: after you enable it, all notebooks, including titles, covers, pages, handwriting, erasing, AI results, imported files, pending layouts and Trash, are stored in Apple CloudKit’s private database for your iCloud account. This is separate from optional cloud AI and uses your iCloud storage. No App login is required. Sync is eventually consistent and may pause offline or when storage is full; it is not an independent backup. Disabling sync retains local and cloud copies. Account changes pause sync until resolved. Concurrent edits may create recovery notebooks. Permanent deletion is propagated when sync succeeds; a content-free deletion marker remains to prevent old devices restoring deleted notes. Unreferenced cloud data is cleaned after confirmed deletion, while local imported files, recovery notebooks, backups and shared exports may remain. Manage iCloud data through Apple’s system settings. Apple’s applicable iCloud terms govern its service.
9. Subscription verification
Apple handles payment details. To verify Juby Plus, the App sends an Apple-signed transaction and the existing installation identifier to XG’s Juby service. The service verifies the subscription with Apple and issues a temporary access token tied to the installation. This does not grant access to notebook contents or expand AI source authorization. Payment card details are not sent to XG. Subscription evidence, access tokens and Apple keys must not be included in service logs.
10. Free AI experience
The welcome experience offers up to three online AI answers without purchase, alongside local replies. A random trial credential is stored in this device’s Keychain and sent only to XG’s trial service after cloud consent. The service keeps a one-way credential digest, request digests and counters to enforce the trial across restarts. It does not store notebook content or AI answers in the trial ledger. Hashed network limits expire within two hours and expired records are removed by subsequent requests; trial credential and request digests remain while this trial program operates to prevent quota resets. Existing service/provider retention described above still applies. Ordinary-note ignore results and provider errors do not increase the answer count, but attempts, cancellations and discarded results remain subject to safety limits. A successful cloud result can consume an answer even if the App cannot insert it or delivery is interrupted. There is no automatic retry or automatic purchase when the trial ends. Contact XG for trial-data requests; deleting the quota record may also end further free access.
Notebook memory: after you confirm, necessary question meanings, key points from completed AI answers, and pending clarifications from this same notebook may be selected across pages and sent through XG to OpenAI to understand follow-ups. Only relevant, bounded summaries or answer excerpts are sent, not whole pages, the notebook title, other notebooks, or unasked handwriting. Memory is saved with its answer on this device and follows optional iCloud notebook sync. Deleting or changing its source makes it unavailable. Existing same-page cloud use remains available if you cancel this additional permission. Turn off cloud AI in Settings to withdraw both permissions.
